Cape Town is a city for people in love. It may not the first international city you think of when you think romance but maybe that should change.
“The Mother City” has so much to offer in the form of spectacular scenery, incredible hotels, remarkable restaurants, and romantic activities – such as sunset strolls on the beach and wine tastings. Depending on your interests and tastes there are a ton of activities to do with your loved one. Here are some some of my top picks:
Table Mountain
Hike to the top of Table Mountain or take the cable car where you can catch breathtaking views, and even take your sweethearts breath away. Can you say prime proposal spot? There is also a cafe at the top if you are looking for a more low-key way spend some quality time together.

Cape Point
Further south, you will find the Old Lighthouse at Cape Point: the view is stunning from the top and sunset are epic from there. I recommend to take the funicular up there and walk down.

Hotels
To make it more romantic, Cape Town offers some exclusive high-end romantic hotels such as the One&Only, the Mount Nelson, The Twelve Apostles, the Cape Grace and The Silo. If you prefer a more personal touch, there are also dozens of boutique hotels dotted throughout the city. Many hotels offer rooftop bar as well with stunning view at sunsets. Radisson Red rooftop is one of my favorite, they produce their own beer as well that you can sip while looking over the Waterfront. Sunsquare City Bowl is a good one too; the rooftop bar has a 360 degree view of Cape Town, you may spot also the colorful Bo Kaap neighborhood and the waterfront. Many rooftop hotels allow outside guests, but I would recommend calling ahead during high season. I had the pleasure of visiting the Silo rooftop as well. The infinity pool over the city was spectacular. Also from there you could spot Table Mountain and Robben Island.
Winelands
Wine estates are among the most romantic places to spend a day or a couple of night with your partner. There are several beautiful estates both close to the city, and in neighboring towns like Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Stellenbosch Wine Estate organize horse riding at sunset or picnics around the property. I loved the atmosphere at the Winelands, it was so peaceful and relaxing; the staff was so amazing, warm and knowledgeable. Their smile was genuine and I felt like they loved what they were doing.
If you are a wine lover or simply you appreciate “La bella vita” – aka “The Good Life” – you must stop in the Winelands. When it was the time to leave, a feeling of melancholy and saddens struck me…I was so sad to leave this place, but in my heart I knew I would be back one day.
